They picked the worse guy to be the new guy. When they tried to fix him up he still was as horrendous as hell. They could have picked someone hot like brad pitt and put a little make up just to make him look like a dork, then when they fix him up they take off the makeup and then thats better then some ugly guy. since when has the credibility of an actor in a certain role been based entirely on his appearance? i don't think they were trying to make dj qualls the hottest man on earth, (that would be christian bale or jonny rhys-meyers xD) it more had to do with him being a badass. i liked him in this movie.

It would have to agree. I'm glad they chose someone who actually DOES look like a dork, and then fixed him up to look fairly good. Remember the "Not Another Teen Movie" scene where the sister takes off the ugly girl's glasses and suddenly she's a hotty? It may have been a dumb movie but I will always remember that scene because it is so true to Hollywood. They always make movies whose message is "even ugly people are cool on the inside", but they completely undermine the whole movie by casting a hotty in the ugly role.

I used to think Brad Pitt was just a prettyboy too, but I changed my mind after seeing Fight Club, Snatch, and Twelve Monkeys. He's a talented actor.

Because,the point is that he hasn't changed that much. It's not about the image dumbass it's the point that he has changed. and he did look cute in a weird way. The kindof point is that he gets away with no looking hot as you put it because he made a strong impression when people first met him and I am one person who doesn't want to go to movies just to perve on "hot" guys. It's not that I don't like looking at hot guys but I also like to watch a little bit of talent when I'm paying my money to watch a movie.
And I'm sorry but Brad Pitt as a teenager??? What were you thinking?? He is like way too old and not everyone thinks that he is the ideal guy.

wow! very deep. I like that. And I agree. I'm not saying I don't care about looks (cause that would be lying through my teeth) but I do think it getting out of hand. I mean, all I ever seem to hear from girls on these message boards is how hot somebody is and that can't be the way we measure talent. DJ Qualls gave a good performance and if you look at the his character Dizzy just a really cool person. I could totally hang with someone like him and he played it well.

2. He is way too old for the part.
3. He does not do crappy movies like this.

Who said DJ isn't hot? I think when he cut and died his hair he became SUPER hot! Ideal guy in my eyes. Kind of reminded me of my ex... only skinnier if possible.
