Can you imagine if this series had been filmed today?
There would be no great music to this wonderful series. Hans Zimmer would probably be hired and have a deep electronic score. Ugh.

Some of the CGI might be better, but other than that it would lack the charm and magic we got with the original. It would be too generic, dull and try to be like everything else like the Marvel movies or something like the new Pan movie. I agree, the music would be unoriginal and have no life to it.

Waigon would probably have agreed with this video about temp music:

It's too depressing to even think of. I'm so glad we at least got 2 Harry Potter films that indulge in their whimsical side.
"Brother, life's a bitch...and she's back in heat."
I can imagine that it begins like a punch to the head with the hostile 'drowning in lava' kind of music.
Praise from the praise-worthy is beyond all rewards.

Here are things that would be in it if made in 2016 instead of 2001:
- dull color
- shot entirely in 2D digital (not film like the original) but released in fake 3D
- too many dead-end references to future films (i.e. character or object from a sequel that has nothing to do with the plot of the first one appears, like in the Marvel films)
- post-credits scene
- newer famous British actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, and Daniel Craig would play teachers
- all effects (even those that were practical effects in the original) would be CGI
- they would make Harry and Hermione more like Katniss from The Hunger Games and Rey from Star Wars
Hans Zimmer is one of the few good composers alive today. The thing is, unlike other composers today, he can make good theme music.
He only makes his scores electronic because the directors opt for it. After all, modern actions and thrillers like Batman, Da Vinci Code, Black Hawk down and such would need a little bit of electronic music. It's not only Zimmer who uses synthesize music for films like that anyway.
Listen to The Prince of Egypt, Gladiator, The Lion King, The Last Samurai and Batman vs Superman scores. They're hardly electronic.
