LOL- I had the same thought. There must be at least a dozen of these stories where some kind of non-conformity runs up against small-minded small-towners; I'll have to come up with a list.

I'd never thought about it but you're right. They do have very similar themes/ideas of "unconventional person comes to some small town full of small-minded people and ends up opening their eyes to a different view of things."
