Stars in New York City

Full disclosure: I've never lived in NYC, but the light pollution where I live precludes seeing any but the brightest stars. I think it's highly improbable that Sara and Lars would be able to see Casseopia whilst sitting by the skating rink near the end.

Understandably, there are many plot points requiring the willing suspension of disbelief to enjoy this movie.

Further full disclosure: I do in fact love this fantasticly enjoyable little tale for the hopeless romantic that exists in many of us.

Hahaha I know! Of all the implausible moments in this movie, a clear view of the stars whilst sitting in the heart of Manhattan was probably the most far flung! I had a good laugh to myself at that :)

I am compelled to come to the defense of the integrity of one of my fav films--
YES the stars and specifically Cassiopeia is EASILY visible in the sky in NYC.
As a NATIVE New Yorker, a Manhattanite who grew up in a neighborhood with Far more light pollution than where they were--at Wollman skating rink in Central Park under darker skies than in my area--YES the constellation can been seen.
With a good background in astronomy-- I can confirm in NYC--certain constellations can easily been seen. 1) Summer Triangle 2) Orion in the winter 3) Cassiopeia in the northwestern sky
I look at the constellations all the time from my rooftop in a FAR more congested and light polluted neighborhood in Manhattan than in a dark Central Park with lighting mainly from streetlights and tall buildings the background. And Yes, I've also been to Wollman rink at night
