Lars was a buffoon, with that stupid clarinet or oboe or whatever the f he was playing. A totally pretentious douchebag, easy to dislike.
But there was nothing dislikable about Halley's character. She was sweet, she was completely normal, and she got completely screwed over. They needed to make her unlikable somehow, and they didn't.

I totally agree with you. She Got Screwed over pretty badly.
Surprising, isn't it? Although it would have been so typical to make her a controlling and selfish woman, in the end her character deserved better.

shareI felt sorry for Lars too, what he does to make a living is honest so I don't know how you can find that stupid. Halley was kind of annoying but I also felt sorry for her. I think the point of the story is that it's not like these two were bad people or anything it's that the two leads felt like something was missing it didn't feel right. I think that made the movie better sometimes that happens in life u just don't love someone no matter how completely normal they seem to be.
