Prince Eric

Like everyone else I loved the Little Mermaid as a kid, got it on dvd for Christmas along with a lovely Prince Eric doll. I don't care that it looks nothing like him.. its better than the Prince Charming shambles... but my issue is...

I'm not ashamed to say I have a crush on Eric... but in the second film why was he voiced by someone else?!? Christopher Daniel Barnes has a great voice.. and is now according to this doing the voice of Prince Charming... WHY??

So in theory, I should watch the sequels to a film I never really liked... Cinderella is not a favourite, story wise... to see what he's like now, and possibly develop a crush on a man (Prince Charming) who is a bit of a prick. He only wants Cinders for her body... anyway. If there is going to be a 3rd Little Mermaid shamble, and Eric is to star... would be lovely, if like Ariel, he can have his voice back...

OMG I can totally sympathsize with you! On all accounts! I first saw the original LM when I was 14 in '90 and totally fell in love w/Prince Eric too! (And it certainly helped that it was voiced by the "bratty" teen guy from Day By Day, who liked to lounge in his bathrobe on the show. LOL!)

Why he didn't voice Prince Eric again, I do not know? Unless he was still under contract to do the voice for Spiderman?

(It would've been funny if Chris would've had Dempsey's role in Enchanted, especially with Jodi as his legal secretary, and Amy Adams' red-headed cartoon "princess" Giselle niavely falling in love with him to a carribean caylpso! lol!)

I think it was the fact that he might have been too young to voice the role...he was only 17 when he did the first one and 28 by the time the second one came out: now tell me, how many 28 year olds have 13 year old daughters? Not many...

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.
