Where have I heard that before?

When Eric said that, what did he mean? Where had he heard it before?
Every time I've watched the original since seing the sequel, I've been looking out for something to connect it to-he says it like Ariel's said it before-but it's been very unsuccessful. Have I missed something?

Ariel asks for two minutes, and he says, in the tone of any man whose been told "just two more minutes," "Where have I heard that before?" Because he knows they're going to be a lot longer than two minutes.

"Only a heathen would bring a gun to a sword fight."
"And only a moron would bring a sword to a gunfight."This T-shirt was tested on animals. It didn't fit.
