I was absolutely gutted to hear of the sequel to the much loved Little Mermaid, not only because there was no chance it could be as good as the first, but also because they gave Ariel a child!
I have nothing against children, but I think out of all the Disney 'princesses' Ariel was the youngest and most naive of them all, and that was what made her so adorable, so it just seems wrong that she was the first to have a child...
Anyone agree?

it was a of a shock to see ariel so grown up when she was the essence of girly, but i think that hlighted her sacrifice from the sea and how far she'd come from that

I agree as well...she was only 16 in the first movie and she doesn't look that much older in the second movie...it's so weird...any opinions?

Also takes away the fairytale romance aswell, now shes just a regular mum. I no that sounds a bit harsh lol but gawd i hate Disney doing sequels to the classics. Anyone agree?

shareit was only weird b/c they KILLED ariels characater...they couldve made her more lorelei from gilmore girls...young (/c shes obviously young) and fun still head strong but a mother above all....the 2nd reason it didnt work was b/d they drew her like she was still 16 when she should be 28...plus erica looked like he de-aged 5 years ...in LM i saw him as 17-18ish in LM2 hes like 15!

shareWell we know for a fact that Prince Phillip was at least 4-5 years older than Aurora because he walked up to her cradle to deliver her gift, but we can't be certain about the others. But generally it seems as if the males are older.
sharei kinda hate the fact that the young, excited 16 year old in the first film clearly had a child right after her wedding (when she was still 16 or 17). i just cant imagine that. its like she had to grow up way too fast.
