Marguerite Doesn't Deserve to Live
I'm just voicing an opinion: I've never liked Marguerite's character. She's annoying and facetious. I think the creators should have her killed off. That's all.

I think Marguerite played a good part in the show, she pretended like she was only in it for herself but really she cared foir everyone, think about the times when she pretended to betrey the team but she was really doing it to ave them. The actress played the part very well.

I completely disagree. If anyone, Marguerite truly deserved to live.
Marguerite was a wonderful and perplexing woman, a heroine to all on and off the plateau. However, she had always hid behind a mask of indifference (and secrets), pretending she did not care what the others thought of her. Roxton was the only man to look beyond that -- but even he, in the first season, took his turn(s) at jabbing at her - simply because he did not understand (or want to understand at the time) what it was to be Marguerite Krux. Not really his fault because she did not let he or anyone else in because she did not want to be hurt (or HAVE to feel for them).
Marguerite, more than anyone, understood Roxton's pain over having accidentally killed his brother. If you ever saw the episodes "Man of Vision" (2nd season) and "Fire in the Sky" (3rd Season) she is there for him, gently speaking to him when he remembers back to that terrible time -- and she tells him out right not to punish himself for something so incredibly tragic. It was not his fault. He was truly trying to kill the ape that was killing his brother.
And it was Marguerite who voiced an interesting truth. They were all on the plateau for the same reason -- either find something or change something -- or run away from something.
Marguerite who has been alone all her life, never having been really loved or loving anyone -- That is until John Roxton came into her life. Her evolution from the seemingly cold but brave woman in season one to the warm family member in season two-three is how it should be. We love Marguerite for her independent strength, bravery and her willingness to finally open her heart to a man - as frightening at that is to her - and allow him in. And to letting the others in too -- her family in The Lost World.
Marguerite has secrets and only she and God knows what all went on during her eventful life so I feel it's important not to judge her too harshly. As they say, there but for the grace of God might be you. :)
Thank you for that eloquent and impassioned defense of Marguerite. Good writing and hence good TV needs conflict and passion and that was her role. The fact that people have such strong reactions to the character is a tribute to the writing and to the fine acting abilities of Rachel Blakely! I truly wish this show had gotten the 4th and 5th seasons it deserved. I would love to see an ending movie or maybe even some fiction thru Simon and Shuster (Star Trek publishers, hence connected with J&G Reeves-Stevens). I hold on to hope even 7 years out!!!!!!
shareWell said Beckersboo...
shareSo far I have only seen the first 11 episodes and she is not sounding the way you have written here. In the pilot episode she tried to sell her host Veronica at whose place she was staying and who helped protect them when they were lost for jewels and a way out.
And she acts selfishly everytime with others. Like the way she went through Ned's journal to read his private thoughts or keep saying Veronica's parents were dead and any search for them is pointless. She also went through Veronica's parents' things and took stuff because she wanted.
Out of everyone in the cast, she is the one who seems to lack compassion towards anyone else but herself. So I can't seem to sympathize for her so far. I'll keep watching and see if she changes truly or if your view is biased because you liked her character.
By the way, this is nothing to do with the actress who plays her. It's the character's personality that seems negative so far.

Just read those kind comments. Thank you! :)
Yeah but she's ALWAYS pushing Roxton away it just pisses me off, like he LOVES her, really loves her and he's a great guy, how could you treat him like that?? I mean yeah she was a great character and rachel Blakely played her marvelously, but her whole I'm lonely and cant trust people thing is so irritating.
And that's a GREAT question. WHY does she treat him like that? Even Roxton himself gets an inkling. He mentions to Maylene in Dead Man's Hill that he thinks Marguerite fears him because someone had hurt her a long time ago and she's not willing to be hurt again anytime soon. Maybe a man in her past proclaimed an undying love for her just to abandon her ... She does seem to have those issues about being alone. And a lot of other issues for that matter. LOL.
Just makes her interesting -- and makes us want to know more about her.
In the end it would have ended happily for Marguerite and her Knight in Shining Armor. There would have been no more fear or hesitiation if we had gotten our finalee the way we wanted it -- and the way J&G Reeves Steven/Guy Mulally had written it (potentially).
Alas ...

I think they were all great characters and there are not enough characters to kill off. Sumerlee was the one who was annoying and always nagging. Veronica was a bit boring too, her relationship with Malone was not done in a way that I think could have been great.
If reincarnated,I'd return to Earth as a killer virus to lower population levels.
