The ABC show Lost was influenced by this series in so many ways.

Any fan of both shows will know what I am talking about. Plus the casting in this series, some of them show up in Lost and Fringe both created by JJ Abrams. David Orth was in an episode of Fringe, John Noble is a leading Character in Fringe who was one of the Jack The Rippers in this series. The other Jack The Ripper companion in this series had a roll in an episode of Lost. This is not to mention the content of both shows are very similar.

I've seen both and was never reminded of "The Lost World" while watching "Lost."

It's a coincidence those actors were on "Fringe." Particularly David Orth.

Whatever you say but I am pretty much certain that Lost was inspired by this series, or at least certain plots. I have rewatched Lost over 10 times not to mention I grew up with this show which I have re-watched several times. Read this thread I wrote for the Lost page and it shows you a more in depth look at why they are similar. There are more I could list but dont remember off the top of my head.

The parallels with Lost struck me too, especially the way the Plateau seems to be out of sync with the rest of the world, is so difficult to escape, and appears to magically draw certain people to it (especially people with a connection to the main characters).

I'm not sure that's proof that Lost was actually influenced by it though. The Lost World was a pretty obscure little series and all the similarities could be a coincidence.

I think your mistaking coincidence for fate.

I'm a fan of both and while there are similarities, that's all there is to it. Everything borrows from something else, influencing another whatever it happens to be at that particular time. As another poster said, The Lost World is a pretty obscure show; assuming J.J. Abrams had been influenced, or even Damon Lindeloff or Carlton Cuse, I would imagine at some point they would have said something.

Not a big Lost fan, but i've seen enough of it that for sure, the writers/creators of the show were fans of The Lost World. I wouldn't say anything is stolen, but the inspiration is undeniable.
