Jam or Jaaaaam?

simple enough question, which do you prefer?

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88mph...
You're gonna see some serious sh!t!

(hmmm, my signature seems to take on a whole new meaning when posted concerning jam)

reply

Blue Jam is better than both of them.

how so?
i have a blue jam cd, the content seems pretty similar to jam, only without pictures (some of the sketches are the same).
i know blue jam came first.

Blue Jam had 3 series, and total of 18 episodes, each were an hour long.

Jam only had 6 half hour episodes.

Most of the sketches in Jam, were taken directly from Blue Jam, and there wasn't really a great deal of new material in Jam. Some of the sketches I preffered on the radio version, were it was left up to the listener to picture them in his, or hers head. Rather than seeing them on screen with a few photoshop filters thrown in.

Blue Jam was more of a music show, with sketches mixed in, which gives it a more dreamy feeling.

The Blue Jam CD is essentially the best sketches from the series, you can download the full series of Blue Jam from http://cabinessence.cream.org/

I think some of the new Jaaaaam visual effects spoil the sketches, so I prefer the regular Jam.

I agree. The effects added in Jaaaaam make the episodes more dreamy/nightmarish, but I thought that Jam was already dreamy enough. I got something close to mental motion sickness watching Jaaaaam. Glad I bought the DVD though, it was worth it.

Blue Jam had more of a dreamy effect to it, and had a lot more music in between each sketch, whereas Jam was more extreme and concentrated. Also the sketches in Jam seem to be in blocks, with visual effects, music and meterial all changing at the same time so we can see crappy images of lights/water/blood/colours, but Blue Jam had material/music melting into each other more fluently.

The effects in Jaaaaam sometimes make the material actully less extreme by making it seem less real, like on episode 4 where the guy wakes up with no body, I found it scarier watching the Jam version, the jaaaaam effects just spoil it.

Basically, it's a choice between dreamlike, extreme and some sort of sick plesure watching graphically warped images.

I chanced upon the Jam DVD while I was ordering Brass Eye. Took a chance which turned out to be a good one. Popping the disc into the player for the first time, I couldn't believe how warped the first sketch was. I was hooked from that point and watched them all that same day. None of it disappoints, even when you close your eyes and just listen there's a good portion of the effect there.

Going by what you're saying I'll probably like Blue Jam. I do remember seeing the CD recommended after I ordered Jam, I'll check it out.

Yeah you want to go to http://cabinessence.cream.org
It's every episode of Blue Jam, the CD is just a complication of the best sketches.

As someone who works with After Effects / Final Cut / Avid all I see when watching Jaaaaam are the settings for visual effects plugins added to video - so definately Jam where you can just appreciate the artistry of the DP.

Still genius though.

Jaaaaaaammmmmm i feel was just Mr Morris taking the p1ss out of remix culture.... and people like us debating over whether one version is better than the other.... Has anyone seen the R2 DVD option where you can watch it in different speed or backwards and the DVD gets stuck just after a WHY ? message... hilarious and a similar point.....regardsless Morris rules, hope he can do more stuff soon...

"Gran'pa was always tha best...."
