Where are you from + what did you think? (Non U.K.)

Hi I don't want to get into a whole nationality debate I'm just interested in what the general concensus is from other non uk countries about this series. I am a huge fan. The only American film (for eg) which I can think of being dark like this (although different entirely) is Tod solonditz? Happiness (which is great). Cheers

I'm American and I think this show is absolute genius. Although even the best sketch shows (regardless of origin) will have one or two sketches that don't work, in Jam there isn't a single sketch that falls flat for me.

I'm pleased to hear that. Chris Morris has in the past been in alot of trouble over here for his sketches. I'm amazed that he was allowed to get some of them made. His Peodophile Brass Eye Special caused a media outrage (even though I can think of more offending material from him). Are there shows in the states that can compare to how far he's pushed the envelope? I love South Park but I think that Jam is the on next level when it comes to being controversial. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just that one is a 'kids' cartoon and the other is a skillfully edited and disturbing audio/visual experience. I've seen the Chappelle Show. It's quite provocative but wasn't it axed suddenly because of this? Happiness is a film I mentioned earlier which I was suprised to see coming out of the States not because I don't think you guys are funny or anything but because it's so dark. I don't know. I guess my question is... has Jam ever been aired in the States? Do you think it ever will be? Will something like Jam ever be made and broadcast on a network channel. Thanks

It hasn't been shown in the US, and I doubt any US broadcasters would ever risk showing it. More's the pity, but that's why we have Internet.

I'm from Canada and I've recently become a fan of almost everything Chris Morris does. I'd heard of him a few times quite a while back, probly in relation to Warp Records or something, but I'd always just heard that he was a "sick" comic. I think I assumed it was lowbrow, or that it would eventually migrate over here like a lot of the more popular British stuff does. If somebody had made the Solondz comparison, I probly would've known that neither of those were true. Although, watching Jam, David Lynch comes to mind much more than Solondz. I guess more just in general mood and its dreamlike qualities than the content.
I find these episodes almost hard to get through, but I mean that in a good way, like every bit is affecting and hits hard. Amazing stuff.

I'm from Australia and my brother has recently shown me Brass-Eye, Jam and Nathan Barley. I find both of these shows amazing, plus I'm a huge fan of the music too (especially Amon Tobi, Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada). The Mighty Boosh is getting really big here and I think thats helping people branch out a bit. I'm a big fan of Boosh but I sometimes feel that they tend to "play it safe" in the show. I realize that this will probably seem like a stupid thing to say considering the "outlandish" premises and wardrobe (etc, etc.) - but I really like how Chris Morris challenges right and wrong in his shows. It's almost like putting the viewer in the spotlight (I knew I copped a few weird looks when I showed some friends the "Paedophile Special"). In regards to anything similar coming out of TV abroad... there's nothing to speak of here. "Flight of the Concordes" is quite funny, but not nearly as intense as Jam or Brass-Eye (plus it's from New Zealand).

I find that the general rule is that the show that gets run is the show that "says", rather than the show that "asks". That and it's very much get-rich-quick and celebrity garbage here.
