Big Lebowski Scene inspired/copied

First off, I like both these movies but sort of worship The Big Lebowski

The scene towards the end when they are all riding in the truck to stop the wedding. Coach, who is driving, pulls out an uzi and dives out onto the street, completely screwing up and sliding all over the place.

This happens very similarly in Big Lebowski, when Walter and The Dude are in the car dropping off the ringer. Walter pulls out an uzi, leaps out of the drivers seat and slides/rolls all over the street. The main difference being the gun goes off a number of times, and he doesn't slam into another car.

These scenes are so similar I have to ask: are they both derived from some previous work with basically the same event? If not, is it a homage or just a copy of the Lebowski scene?

I love Lebowski and that is my favourite scene in that entire movie, but no I think it's just a coincidence to be honest. There have been numerous amounts of movies with scenes like this.

"You didn't think I was rolling out of here naked, did ya?!"

reply

Yeah, I really don't think they ripped off anything. It was probably a coincidence.
