Jess' confession

In "Nag Hammadi Is Where They Found the Gnostic Gospels" Jess makes a big confession to Rory but then promptly leaves. What do you suppose happens if Jess stays, how does Rory respond?

reply

I think they might have been together for a little while but I don't think they would have stayed together.

reply

Yeah, I'm not sure. It seems like Rory loved Jess when she graduated. Yet, by the time Jess returns she doesn't seem to care about him.

reply

I don't even know if they would have gotten back together. I don't think that she didn't care, I think she had moved on which is different. If he had stayed around things might have changed, but probably not.

reply

Yeah she moved on from Dean at that point yet it was clear that she cared for him. However, with Jess she just acted like it was a hassle he was back in her town.

I actually just watched that episode a few days ago and I didn't get that. I think she was confused when she first saw him, and it looked like she wanted to talk to him, but he kept running away. That was her experience with Jess. When he left for New York, he just left, he didn't say good bye. Then when they got together, he just left for California, and he didn't say good bye. When he called her at her grad, she told him that He could have talked to her. He didn't, he just left. She also said she thought that she loved him, but she wasn't going to pine.

When they meet the last time in the episode, she says that she gets to leave this time. Then he tells her he loves her. She was hurt, angry, and confused at the time. I think that tells me that she did care.

When he shows up again at Yale, just when she's getting close with Dean, she doesn't want him at that point. She does care for him, but that doesn't mean that she wanted to be with him. I mean they did keep in touch sporadically over the years. He does come back again when she's with Logan and shows her his book. So if she didn't care, she wouldn't have spent time with him.

Good summary. I forget a few of those key points where Jess left unexpectedly and how that factored in later. That's what like about them their relationship aftermath seems so true to life.
