Rory and Lane

Just watching the episode where Rory visits Lane while she is in town for sookies kids baptism. It appears they haven't talked in awhile with Lane being on tour and Rory not visiting stars hollow because of the fight with her mom + being in a new relationship with Logan.
I got to thinking that Lane never addressed the yacht situation. Does she know? I kind of wish that Lane would have yelled at Rory. After all, this is very much out of character for the Rory that Lane knows and it would have been nice if Lane would have tried to talk a little sense in her.

You got to remember Lane was young with a over protective mother. Her biggest rebellious act was dying her hair in the exact same color as before.

But she died it blue first remember then freaked out and dyed it back her natural colour.

I dunno Lane didn't judge her for sleeping with a married man so you've got to worry about her moral compass. Which was surprising since marriage and sex were two things she felt strongly about.

To be blunt: after Rory went to Yale, she and Lane weren't best friends. Yes, they may have referred to each other by such terms, but that was out of loyalty and the history they shared. Whenever something major happened in Rory's life, she usually confided in Paris/Lorelai. It's particularly telling that in season 6 when Logan has his accident, Paris is the first person other than Lorelai who Rory speaks with. They're not best friends. If Lane was a best friend she would have been honest whenever Rory stepped out of line (i.e. stealing the yacht, sleeping with a married man). But she didn't.

Good points and Lane was practically cheering when she slept with a married Dean because it was exciting. Even if she knew about the yacht, she would've just dismissed it as a fun and rebellious act. Lane is her childhood best friend but it stopped being a deep friendship when she went to Chilton and got a boyfriend. Despite Rory's claims, I will always see Paris as her best friend. It's similar to Ross, Chandler, and Joey in the later seasons of Friends. Ross considers chandler his oldest friend and Joey his best friend.

I think Rory didn't want to admit that Paris had become her best friend out of concern for what other people would think, since almost everyone had a negative opinion about Paris. Even Lorelai tried to find a way to get out of her lunch meetings with Paris while Rory wasn't at Yale, and of course the editorial staff hated Paris. Rory was always concerned about other people's opinion of her. Lane grew apart from Rory too once Zack came into the picture.

Yeah I agree Paris wasn't viewed in a positive light by other people so Rory publicly downplayed their friendship which is funny because she couldn't be surprised over people assuming they were best friends. They were together a lot and lived together lol. Yeah the distance between Yale and stars hollow combined with their relationships, school, work, and family obligations gave them little time to hang out.
