So if Van Damme wasn't in it, it would be rated higher?

Would it have gone to theaters as well? Think about, Van Damme haters apparently outnumber the fans, so as soon as a new Jean movie comes out they are aware and immediately rate it a 1 to keep the overall rating low right?

don't know if it would've gone to theaters but yes van damme haters try to f up the ratings by just giving it a 1.

The guy who wrote this movie was my teacher so i'll give you guys the low down.
The reason this movie was not given wide release in theatres was because of Ringo Lam. He changed the story to the point where the studio decided it was not the movie they had paid for and only gave it the limited release that was guaranteed in the contract. They gave Ringo the "you'll never work agian in this town" speech (and he hasn't) and wen't to video with it. The guy who rewrote it Les Weldon (or less welldone as he is referred to from riggins) also screwed it up. From what he said Van Damme was cool to work with and I belive him.

Oh geez its been a while but if I remember correctly...
The crimes were different originaly, Didn't he kill mothers in the final version? I think that made riggins really mad. I don't think the hooker was supposed to be there and the gratuatous violence was added as well, I think at some piont he kicked and shot some people who were just sitting around and wern't even in his way. I think there were clues to the bad guys identity early on that were cut. Like i said its been a while since I saw it so I can't remember exactly

I think this film is one of Van Damme's best and I give much of that credit to Ringo Lam. So far, he's done three movies with JC (Maximum Risk, Replicant, and In Hell) and they are all quality films. In my opinion, Ringo knows what's best for Van Damme.

As for this movie not going to cinemas, I read that it was originally planned for a release, but Artisan decided not to risk it because of the failure with The Blair Witch Project 2.

That is just wrong and I think this would have done well at the movie theaters if it was released. It was a very good action movie and I loved it too!

you ever consider that it's the weak hole filled plot and serious lack of action compared to other better Van Damme movies that earned this it's low rating?

reply

I thought the plot was very good and kept things very interesting in this film. His movies have been action and I have loved his fight scenes. That is not good if it earned a low rating.

Despite the numerous changes, the story went over fairly well.

I just don't get those people who do that. I don't understand why they dislike JC. I have searched everywhere for a VAILD REASON as to why these people hate Van Damme so much. It is just ridiculous because most of these guys are definate jealous haters who are probably fat, lazy, keyboard warriors.

JC is a good guy and does some really good movies, but the people who do the ratings always try to ruin it by giving the movies he does 1. It's ridiculous!
