My Film Analysis teacher wrote the script for this movie

Lawrence Riggins. He is probably the most awesome dude I've ever met.

the fact that the guy who wrote this is actually teaching people something about film scares the hell out of me

I don't comment often but I had to say something. I have taken several classes that Larry Riggins has taught and he is an excellent teacher. In one session, a student asked what he thought of the movie, he said that they pretty much butchered it. They changed plot points, avoided symbolism, misinterpreted characters, altered the ending, etc. He solely wrote the screenplay and sold it. What the movie became was the result of Ringo Lam and Les Weldon. Apparently, Michael Rooker liked the original script (was told it was in his commentary). The only good thing that Larry said about the film was Jean-Claude Van Damme's performance (some of the best work he has ever seen him do). Larry Riggins is too good of a film teacher to write a bad movie, even if he wanted to. And if you disregard his generosity for teaching film at community colleges, he was a film teacher at UCLA.

What a pity. It would be great to be able to read the original screenplay to see what it adds to story. It's actually not a bad movie and I'm sure with the original screenplay, it's probably very good.

I enjoyed the film and loved it! I thought he did a bang up job on this film. That is cool that Larry Riggins teaches a film class. I wished that they offered some film classes at my community college but they do not. That is why I mentioned to my supervisor when I worked campus security for my local community college that possibly one of these days there will be a hall or a portion of a building with my name on it that is for students that want to go to film school to act, direct, produce, write, or anything else that has to do with the film industry. Nothing wrong with wanting something named after you is there?

What makes you think he was generous instead of being broken down and desperate for a job, any job? Even at a community college?

Before I posted, I checked his IMDB profile. He has not been very successful, although admittedly not been completely unemployed either.

So, honestly, what makes you so certain it was out of generosity rather than desperation? After all, most people who try to make it in Hollywood are extremely unsuccessful.

I thought the scripting that survived what must have been some awful directing and editing actually saved the movie! Not often that you see a movie destined for cheesiness actually push through and come out as almost credible. Thanks, Lawrence Riggins

I guess his 'Ironheart' script was butchered too.
