That makes three of us! :-) I like this film too. Eventhough, some people did not care much for this film, I really enjoyed watching the entire film. I thought the chemistry and scenes between Nicolas and Penelope was sweet and beautiful. I thought, Nicolas's accent was quite charming and fit his character's personality very well. The scenery was breathtaking throughout the film. I like John Hurt's character as well.

I caught it last night on Greek tv (well parts of it mostly) and i have to agree about Nicolas' accent. Anyone that has actually spoken in English with Italian people (not Italian-Americans) can see that his accent is pretty much close to the real thing. However at some moments i got the feeling that he could even be doubled as there was a slight lag between the image and the sound! As for Penelope's accent, it's not horrible as greek and spanish phonems aren't that different.
As for the story, well, it's not the bridge on the river Kwai, but it could have more strength nonetheless.
