i found this film incredibly boring!

Nicholas Cage is great, he looks good, his acting was moderatley magnetic, and i love him in everything. But for me I sat down for and hour and a half just waiting for him to fall in love with this woman, nearley die, and leave. Thats about it! The end was quite good. It had some good shooting scenes. Other than that for me this was just a bunch of old greek people sitting around pretending to have fun, with some stupid little woman sitting in the corner tutting her mouth off. This is a great film for anyone who's a pathetic romantic. For everyone else it's utter bull.

I actually found this movie to be quite nice. Not just because it was a romantic drama war movie, but because it i just liked it.I know its not the best movie ever made. But it is not as boring as some people metion.I think this was an ok movie.Even though I haven't read the book i still think this was a well done movie.

The movie was watchable, but mainly due to its cinematography, not acting. Cage's performance was less than average and his accent was just atrocious. He even tried to add a fake Italian accent to his laughter. Cruz was alright, but nothing special. The only stand out seems to be John Hurt. Others are not even worth mentioning.

But in terms of how the movie looked and felt, it was almost perfect. A quiet Greek island countryside during WWII. The German military equipment looked very convincing, and from the looks of it, even the Italian submachine guns were real.

This was a great movie, you had to take it in the message it conveys... Love and music are the soul of humans... and they don't have frontiers.

I must admit I haven`t read the book but there seems to be a pretty good story lurking just beneath this mess.Poorly cast as the incomprehensible Cruz & Captain Berterelli(whada mistaka to maka)supposedly fall in love at the expense of a very uncomfortable looking Christain Bale.Decent action scenes, nice scenery & John Hurt provide some relief but ultimately it can`t be rescued.

Mediteraneo has been mentioned before & it really is everything this could have been.If however you want to see Italian soldiers fighting a war rather than the typical stereotype of drinking vino, eating pasta & pinching girls` bottoms try El Alamein(2002)which is a gritty account of the battle told from the Italian perspective-terrific film.
