AM I GOING CRAZY??!!

I posted this in a reply to another topic but thought it really needs to be placed better, so I started this one.. Here goes:

Am I GOING CRAZY??!!!

Cause nobody's mention one thing.....

The 'killer' was a minister of the local church.. with all the kids.. !! The one the little girl went to.... etc etc..

In a rural area.. the 'tragic' death of the minister wouldn't have taken 'never', months, weeks, days.. but hours for the word to get around the area..........
Jack's character would've found out. the Reno police would have forensically check the accident and the preacher and mom... etc....
The only sad ending would've been Jack's character losing the potential family he might've been apart of...

To me that's a hugh loophole in the flick's ending.. at least to obvious to me.
So again, am i going crazy.. why hasn't anyone else caught this 'clue'.. or break in the logic.

Hey...don't go crazy :) The killer isn't Jackson (the minister) at all but Oliver-from-the-candy-store, a character we never actually see in the movie. You might want to watch the last five minutes again.

I know your message is almost a year old now, but I was just revisiting this movie and was checking out the message board.

You might want to look at this interview:

You have to scroll down a bit to get to the part about The Pledge, but the actor who plays the minister briefly explains that there was supposed to be a little bit more information delivered to the audience, and he sympathizes with those who come away with the same conclusion you drew.

IMHO it's not particularly rewarding to get too bogged down in identifying the murderer, since the movie is more devoted to character than to a murder mystery, and one of the underlying themes is that life doesn't give you a set of puzzle pieces that you can put together if given enough time - the puzzle is always missing pieces, and the acts of others prevent you from knowing all there is to know. But, as normal movie viewers, we always want to know the answer.

Not at all crazy. You do bring some good issues here. AM I CRAZY?????? Look, I have posted a comment today. I am opened to interact, considering the fact that all comments have 2011 data and the movie is 2001 (IMDb info source)!!! THAT is insane.
