I saw this film in the theater and I was stunned by the fight scenes and acting. I bought it on DVD and the fight scenes are still stellar. HOWEVER, even when I set my DVD to French with English subtitles, I still don't get the voices of the original players... who were so amazing in their depth and emotion. Does anyone know where I can get a genuine copy of this DVD in French? I don't care if there are subtitles, I just want the talent. I repeat, I have the US released version DVD, those are not the voices of the original actors when I use the "In French" option... looking for a true version. Thank you.

That is curious. Did you get a bootleg copy?

One way to double check is to compare the actors' voices to parts in other movies they played. For instance, Monica Bellucia has been in quite a few things (e.g., the "Matrix" sequels), check if it's the same voice, and you know whether whether it's the right one.

That is strange. Get the Canadian version of the DVD release.

I ordered the DVD from a Canadian seller and I finally got an authentic version. The French dialog is perfect. Thank you so much.

I bought another copy and got the edition I wanted. Thank you for the advice. Idiot beware. The price of two copies was still worth having the film at my disposal. thanks

Happy for you. But still I'm curious to know why dubbing again a French movie in french with other voices. Strange...
What was your DVD version ?

I watched this last night and started it in English dubbing by mistake. We then restarted in french... but my friend told me this story I thought you would like.

My mate had the Mad Max DVDs. Apparently for years he has watched Mad Max and wondered why his DVD player seems to stutter a bit. He finally worked it out. Mad Max has been dubbed... from Australian into English...

Yes, Mad Max was dubbed with American actors' voices on it's original Eanglish and American release, all of whom did a good job except for Mel's replacement, who turns in a ghastly Clint Eastwood imitation that's just not right.

Actually, I think the English dubbing on "Brotherhood" is rather good, especially Samuel Le Bihan's voiceover, who sounds to me just as I would expect Le Bihan to - but of course others may disagree.

After all these months, a dear freind took a look at my first DVD. It seems I have a French bootleg DVD. So odd. Who knows, maybe I have a collectors item :) Anyway, still glad to have the original actors dialog. And after comparing the two, the first had very poor graphic quality.
