Why was Fronsac an ever better fighter than Mani?

Just a hunch, but did he eat Mani's heart to gain his fallen comrade's strenght? It was as if it was Mani within Froncac fighting the gypsies at the end. He was faster, more athletic and stronger than before, I thought.

And just for the record - what a beautiful, poetic, thrilling ride. Fantastic genre movie.

I think it was all about adding a twist to the film, but remember Mani did get shot.🐭

Not sure he was necessarily depicted as BETTER than Mani, though they were clearly very similarly trained. I guess Mani was simply overrun having walked into a trap, while Fronsac was on the offensive, had the element of surprise, and was also driven by vengeance.

"I love a coward!"
