V'amonos, and comments on Dora

It is driving me crazy... what does this word "v'amonos" MEAN in English????

My son loves Dora, in fact the theme song is how he learned to dance and it is his favorite song. He is 11 months old.

I hate that ALL the Dora toys and just everything Dora is all for females!!! Boys like Dora too %$^*&!

I like her, I think it is too cute how her clothes are too small and they don't match!! How cute!

It's along the lines of 'hurry'. So the song is basically, "Come on, hurry!"

It means "let's go". I agree with you that all the Dora merchandise is geared towards girls. My son also loves Dora but we only have books, coloring books, videos, etc. I did find a backpack that is just "Backback" with no flowers or anything on it. It's not really masculine but not overly feminine either. Maybe we will see more boy type toys with Diego having his own show now. So far I haven't seen much, though.

My baby likes Dora, but he could care less about Diego. And Diego is a totally different show, and not like Dora. He doesn't care for Diego, and neither do I, and I am sure if he saw Diego stuff in the stores he wouldn't care. If he liked Diego, I would certainly let him have the Diego toys, but you should see the way he just lights up when he sees anything 'Dora'. Maggie

I agree about the merchandising being primarily geared toward girls. My 2-1/2 year old son LOVES Dora and has learned so much from the show. Still, I can't really buy him any of the merchandise because it's very feminine. As an example, we were in a dept store and he saw some Dora panties. He didn't know they were underwear (esp. since he's still wearing pampers) but he saw Dora. I let him carry them around the store so he wouldn't throw a fit but I told him he couldn't have them. Anyway, I was happy to see Diego's show come about and figured he was supposed to appeal to male children. My son likes him so that's good. I know Diego merchandise will start hitting stores in full force if it hasn't already. Yet, he won't have the same impact on my son as Dora does.

I know that Dora is dressed in girly clothes, and that is fine, I wouldn't expect them to put more 'boyish' colors on her to make her more boyish or anything. So if you have toys and whatnot with her in true colors on it, it will already look feminine because of the girl colors in her clothes. But they can do without all the purple backgrounds, pink starry sparkly backgrounds, and things like that. I have a bath mat that I've stuck to the side of the tub that my boy can play near and look at in the tub (he gives her 'high five' and stuff!) and it is Dora and Boots, and a plain red background. Red is boyish enough to me, and it seems like the mat could be suitable for boys and girls. So there are easy ways they can make the Dora stuff for both genders, I just wish they would do that with more of her items.
