I think both Kevin and Kurt can carry a movie; but when Christian's character, (who I thought was great in his last scene) was killed off so soon, I lost interest in the story. Was it good post-Slater?

You're right and I've always felt the same... they should have killed David Arquette twice and let Christian Slater live a while. Maybe let them get into a three-way shootout at some point because each knows the other is out to get them. Kind of an homage to the end of "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly."
Yeah I was suprised that Christian Slater died so early on in the movie. I was lead to believe that when I netflixed it the movie was about a group of Elvis impersonators who spend the whole movie doing heists. Not just one heist. I enjoyed the movie nonetheless. I really liked Kevin Costner and I liked the kid as well. Decent movie overall.
