The bills were marked. What, specifically, was Lovitz the money launderer supposed to do?
When Costner killed Lovitz, he took Lovitz's safe money, plus he took the marked bills that Courtney Cox had. Why did he kill everyone but Courtney? Why put her in the trunk of car when he has been killing everyone else?

I'm pretty sure he was planning on taking the casino money AND Lovitz's money all along. They told him to replace the stolen money with his good money and then he'd keep a %.

Maybe he wanted Cox alive in case he needed leverage against Russell again.
