Whats the fixation with Bob Carolgees in this series?

He's mentioned in every episode, and appears in one!

He is juast someone they where obsessed with, Even Bob asked Peter Kay What the reason was but he couldn't explane it.

He is also mentioned in the first episode from both series of phoenix nights and max and paddy's road to nowhere.

In series one he is on the back of the leaflet Jerry is looking at while in the toilet "Endorsed By Bob Carolgees"

In series 2 Bob is presenting a chat show with Spit the Dog seem near the beginning of the first episode.

And in max and paddy, Bob's name is mentioned on the radio just before the scene where paddy teaches max how to dance.
