DVD Commentary on That Peter Kay Thing

does anybody else think the commentary for this Series' DVD is very 'naff' ... They don't even introduce themselves, for some unknown reason Craig Cash from Royal Family is in it (mind you he apparantely backed Peters' career at the start to get the series going) and there's some other random person (called Michael) who says a few things and all they do is random laughs, a couple of facts and nothing really interesting at all, sometimes they do get on a roll with a few good facts and good other things but half the time they are either just sat there watching, not saying anything or just laughing throwing odd 'personal' jokes to each other. It's just really crap in retrospect.

Phoenix Nights' DVD commentaries are probably the highlights of the DVD and they are excellent to listen to but the commentary on That Peter Kay Thing is extremely disappointing in comparison, seems that the appeal of commentary tracks have gone off Peter and Paddy since this was rather naff and they didn't even do their own commentary on Max & Paddys Road To Nowhere ... it's a shame because their commentary tracks are excellent.

I recognised his voice, but couldn't put a name to it, then I realised.

He isn't listed as having anything to do with the show though :/

Agreed. It's just a lot of "in jokes" and giggling among themselves (rather like how most radio talk shows have become now). Just my opinion, but I think after he became a household name during 2002/3 Peter Kay did go off the boil quite significantly for a few years - not sure if the acclaim went to his head or if it was the pressure/expectation or if he was surrounded by sycophants and yes-men, or maybe he just struggled without his previous writing partners, but I imagine this commentary was done around the time he was writing Max and Paddy, and if this was his attitude during that time, it's no wonder that show was such garbage.
That said, some of the comments during Leonard kinda enhanced the enjoyment of the episode, and as stated above, Eyes Down was OK in parts too, but they're the exception - it's a pity they didn't do what a lot of series DVDs do and just have commentary on selected episodes, because commentary on every single one can be a bit much.
Actually, maybe just an intro to each episode with a couple of 'behind the story' type facts would have done.
