new anime series "Sonic The Hedgehog X" gets airtime on Fox Box.
"4 Kids" entertainment has decided they will buy rights to the new Sonic The Hedgehog japanese anime series, "Sonic X" and they plan to air it on Fox's saturday morning line-up called "Fox Box" the show will air alongside other shows such as "Kirby: Right Back At Ya", "Ultimate MUSCLE," and "The New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
No info as to who the english dub voice actors will be yet or how much of the violence and mature language will be stripped out of the show in the "Americanizing" process . I'm assuming Jaeel White (aka Urkle) may return for the role of the voice of Sonic but its doubtful.
Sonic X is a new Sonic series with an animation style that resembles the DreamCast promotional artwork. Perhaps this new Sonic show will out-do Poke'mon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh, thus marking the return of the Video Game Based Cartoon and the end of card game based cartoons.
Sonic and his pals (and even Dr. Eggman) are accidentally transported to Earth via "Chaos Control" the dimensional rift created when all the Chaos Emeralds are put in the same place. Sonic awakens to find himself alone in a world full of pink skinned creatures, their technology reminds him of Eggman's but its less advanced.
The list of characters include:
Sonic The Hedgehog, the ultra-fast blue blur.
Tails Prower, the mechanical genius kitsune' (2 tailed fox).
Knuckles Echidna, he's got more attitude than Sonic even!
Amy Hedgehog, a pink female version of Sonic.
Cream the Rabbit and her chao named "Cheese"
can we say "obvious comical name pun?"
Also the human characters are:
DR. Eggman (or to us American viewers, Robotnik)
Chris, Sonic's human companion.
Danny, Chris friend
Uncle (Chris's uncle who happens to be a scientist)
and the S-Team (the "S" is for Speed)
who's goal is to capture Sonic so they can turn him over
to the militarry so they can expirament on him.
Despite any reluctance you may have to watch anything that isn't SatAm or AoStH, this show is AWESOME. The animation style is top knotch and its full of action, shoot outs, swat-teams, speed, and the occasional swearword (though in Japan, words like sh*t are considered as harmless as "darn" or "heck."
You'll probably lose those wonderful quirks in the english dubbed version.
Thats why you should try looking for the subtitled AVI's of Sonic X, translated by the wonderful folks at Team Artail. Do a google.com search, find the eps and download them. You won't be dissappointed.
