I thought this was hilarious, if my thoughts are correct..

Ok when they go to that one club for the first time and the girl brings Elliot the cookies and he says

"These look just like the cookies my grandma used to make."

Then he takes a bite and says...

" These are the cookies my grandma used to make!"

I thought they were trying to say that his grandma was in hell....Were they?

reply

I didn't think so... I always thought they were just making the club seem like the greatest place on earth!

I'm saving to buy a PS3 and GTAIV...
Can I borrow $496.78?

reply

Then I guess I'm the one who's funny...

reply

I agree thats it doesnt mean that his Grandma is in hell but its still pretty funny if you think like that! Lol that just made my day!

reply

Why not? My Grandmother is pure evil, I'm pretty sure that if there is a Hell then she's going there when the old bat finally kicks it.

reply

I had never thought of this either, but there may be something to it...

It always reminded me of Friends episode "The one with Phoebe's Cookies" where Monica is helping Phoebe find the secret recipe for Phoebe's grandmother's chocolate chip cookies. In the end they find out that Phoebe's grandmother had lied and the recipe is actually just the Nestle Tollhouse recipe on the back of the bag. Phoebe looks down and says, "You see it is stuff like this which is why you're burning in hell!"

I know that the episode originally aired the same year that this movie was released, so maybe Friends was copying this movie?

reply

I don't think so but there is room to interpret it that way and that's pretty funny (in a black sort of way).

I think the point was simply that Hurley and her minions had the power to make wishes come true. Eliot might wish for his long departed grandmother's cookies again, the Hurley had the power to make that happen.

Perhaps the Grandma sold her soul for a really good cookie recipe.
