In the first wish it is clear that Brendan is speaking Spanish just fine. But when he goes into Russian the voice changes... did they get someone to do a voice-over in Russian for him? I'm really just curious. I can't blame him cos Russian is so complex unless you know how to speak it!

When does he speak in Russian? I can't recall that part of the movie. Guess it is time to rent it again. I'm getting to the point that I think maybe I should just BUY his movies.

Well russian is my native language and I must say that his russian speaking was terrible unlike spanish which sounded clear. He speakead with same voice intonation as english and no wonder how he did it so terrible.
shareOk, let me just disagree with the previous poster. I'm also Russian, and I just finished watching that scene, and the bottomline is this: this is NOT Brendan Fraser speaking Russian. He is dubbed by someone else, most likely by a Georgian or someone from Caucasus Mountains,cos the accent of a Caucasian is very thick and distinctive to a Russian ear! Cheers

Far be it from me to disagree with someone who speaks the language letyaga3682. Lord knows I have enough trouble with English. However, according to the director's comment on the DVD -- the one in which Elizabeth Hurley also provides comments -- that's Brandon doing the talking; whether its Spanish or Russian. Watching his mouth during the Russian speaking sequence, it doesn't looked dubbed at all. The reason the accent is very thick may be because -- again according to the DVD -- Brandon learned to speak both Russian and Spanish phoenetically for the part (i.e. he imitated the sounds without knowing what the words mean) -- and his Russian coach may have had a thick accent that Brandon simply copied.
