Yes!!! Especially Milo Thatch and his introduction is practically note for note Daniel Jackson and his introduction.

YES!!!!! While watching it in the theater i wispered to my mom "man this is like stargate" even the A in atlantis looks like the earth chevrons.

I happen to know that the writers were stargate fans, so yes the similarities were intentional.

YES! I just now saw the beginning of Stargate this weekend and I was blown away by how simliar Daniel and Milo are. I thought I was the only one!

Even in the 2nd film the city of atlantis flies just like in stargate atlantis.
