This wasn't bad :)

I've seen the four hell raiser movies before this one, and I have to say, aside from the first one, this was probably the best. Horror movies are much better when the protagonist inevitably loses.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I recall loving it. Hellraiser 1 and 2 were good but 3 and 4 were terrible. I thought this one was a great return to form and showed the Cenobites as truly creepy beings instead of the goofiness of 3 and 4.

I agree, next to 1 & 2 this is the next best in the series.
Craig Sheffer (of Nightbreed fame!) was quite good and the film
was well made. The creepy atmosphere returned some of the mystique
to the Cenobites instead of just making them seem like cheezy
monsters. The colours, lighting, and film fx were very effective
at creating atmosphere.

yes i agree, this is a sort of return to form. 3 and 4 were terrible
Sheffer did well with this
and no needless overload of pinhead, who shouldn't have been the central focus anyway
indeed the cenobite probably looked the best they have done

It didn't seem like a Hellraiser movie, more like a 'Hellraiser vignette' that happen to be in the same universe. Sort of like the stories in the graphic novels, which were sometimes (but not always) pretty good.

Maybe some were confused by such a change in tone, but I liked it. I like Sheffer, his work in this, and I loved the 'Angel Heart' ending. I'd watch it again.
