Would this be better in Black & White?

Always had the feeling this wasn't a bad movie at all, but would have been much beter in black & white. It would be fitting with the general atmosphere of the film, and the visual effects would look pretty unique; especially in a horror genre.

Well, why not turn down your color and give it a try! I agree that is sounds like a cool idea! Though I like the film, one big criticism I have is the color grading. I hate color grading with a passion, so turning it black and white is a good idea!

I gave it a shot, but you can just see that the movie was made for colour. I think there are rules in cinematography to adapt a movie to either colour or black and white.

You can see that it would have had a charm though. It fits the atmosphere, but also makes the horror visuals more realistic in a way. I think it's kind of psychological. We associate black and white with old movies where you could easily distinguish special effects from reality, so if an effect does look very real, your mind more easily interpretes it as real.

That's cool. You are right that there is a difference in the way things are filmed for black and white, most specifically how makeup is done on the actors. If you saw how the people of black and white looked in color, you'd wonder what they were thinking, but on the black and white film, it looks perfect. No movie with the color turned down will ever look like a genuine black and white film for this reason, but it is as close as we can get to seeing what it might have been like. Hell, even films like Ed Wood that was purposely made in black and white don't look genuinely old simply because of the high quality film versus what was used long ago.
