Final opponents (SPOILERS).

During the fight scenes on the train during the film's climax, Williams battles against Big Daddy Mars while Ballard tackles a non-descript Martian marauder. Does anyone else think it would have been more effective to instead have Ballard vs Big Daddy Mars, and Williams being confronted by - and having to fight against - his ghost-possessed brother Uno?

I like it the way we have it, but your way would also have worked.

Here's why I'm not sure your way would be more effective: it's already clearly established that Desolation knows perfectly well that Uno isn't Uno any more. There's no drama left for a final faceoff between the two; he's already cut loose of his brother, and he won't have any hesitation about fighting a ghost in his brother's body.

Of course you could change that too, and make him have a harder time accepting that Uno is gone. But I think that would come at the cost of Desolation's character. He's pretty hardheaded and realistic.

Again, though, I'm not saying your ending wouldn't work at all, just that I'm not sure it would be more effective than the actual ending.

Even cooler: Godzilla. Yes, the twist ending that would spawn a series of sequels and prequels in which Godzilla is revealed to be in control of the ghosts.
