Should John Carpenter stop making movies?

This movie, Village of the Damned, etc...he just keeps getting worse and worse-this one tops his worst and leads to the above question.

John Carpenter made one of the all time greatest horror films of all times with Halloween. What happened with this filmmaker?

The whole thing looked so cheap-made on some soundstage somewhere-and it looked it too. The acting was terrible-especially Ice Cube(Boob)-why are they giving him movie roles?

The screenplay was atrocious-during all this violence/carnage that is occuring Strathan asks Natasha if she wants to get it on. The soundtrack was annoying also.

The fx was bad plus the characters just disappeared, you assumed the were killed like Joanna Cassidy for instance-she became possessed then?? What happened to Strathan? You can assume but it was not clear.

Not a likeable character in this movie-it felt dirty like the cheap red dirt on Mars.

To answer the above question after this bomb-one of his many-I think he should stop.

What happened to [Statham]? You can assume but it was not clear.

Actually we are shown what happens to him; he's taken down (and out) by a few of the possessed miners. It happens fast and it's easy to miss, but it's there and it's clear.

Did you thought of the possibility that maybe John Carpenter knows how to shoot a mainstream film (ex.: Starman) but doesn't want to do that here?
Do you know the concept of a genre called "B Movie"?
Just a hint. ;-)
