I didn't think this movie was bad at all, in fact I thought it was a pretty fun movie. I will admit, knowing and liking John Carpenters movies probably tints my view a little. This movie has all the depth of Assault on Precinct 13 with all the hokiness of the same, plus a little Escape from New York and They Live.

For the non-JC fan, I don't know. It may or may not be your cup of tea, but for what it's worth, I found it to be maybe a notch below Planet Terror, with the same Grindhouse cheese.

I hated it back in the day, but decided to give it another try tonight. I was never much of a Carpenter fan, even though I liked The Thing, but this is an absolute garbage. I think the only reason this is not in the bottom 100, is because of the names involved, even though they all did a terrible job. I rarely give 1 star to a movie, but this one really deserved it, because it's a mess in all departments. How you even compare Ghosts of Mars to Planet Terror, which is actually a pretty entertaining over-the-top movie, is beyond me.

I see Planet Terror as similar in style but I admit Robert Rodriguez has an updated, flashier version of over-the-top movies. Carpenter has an older style, and maybe my age is showing. Maybe it really does have to do with liking Carpenter since 1980. Oh well!

No, I agree with you, man. This movie is tons of fun. I honestly don't get why people think it's so bad as to deserve being in the bottom 100. It's just a fun dumb action movie with some nice horror elements mixed in.

I give it an A-minus!

I got news for 'em. There's gonna be hell to pay. 'Cause I ain't Daddy's little boy no more.

...maybe even a solid A.
