shareActually. Nat King Cole sang the second rendition, and the most famous one. The original song was composed and sung by Eden Ahbez in 1947. There have been many (and I mean many) renditions of this song by many singers. I happen to have Celine Dion's rendition on one of her CDs. There is an entire article on the song in Wikipedia. It's a very moving and even haunting tune.

I met the (unfortunately) late Eden Ahbez years ago. He spent some of his early years living in a canyon in the Sunland foothills with his Native American wife and son. He was a very small, slight guy with a ginger-colored beard and I would always see him doing errands in his old white van. He once played "Nature Boy" for my sister and I on a bamboo flute and told us how he came up with the song and tried to get it to Nat King Cole. Once he dropped by our house and I played the George Benson version of the song for him.
