Isn't anyone sad by...

''I feel I don't have a daughter'' phrase her father say to her (Sharon) at the party. Geez it's still your child. He got what he deserved anyways when he got arrested for abusing her wife (her mother).
Nothing worst than denying your own child. That would really get me crying if I was told that. To me that would be a lot worst than physical abuse.

Agreed. He shouldn't have said that. But at the same time...what else could one expect from a guy like that?

Yes sad but in some cases it's very true. A woman I know went through a very similar scenario with an abusive father and she saw what he did to her mother. He has in turn now can't understand why the daughter doesn't want any contact with him and said it was all her fault anyway. Gets me how men like this switch it around to blame the innocent.

It was indeed a horrible thing for him to say to his daughter, but she had the perfect answer: "Well, you do, and it's a shame that you're gonna miss knowing her." And that's the truth. She was a good person, a hard worker, and loyal to her family, and he would never have the chance to realize that because he closed himself off to her. It's unfortunate that he didn't eventually see why she did what she did, and how she only wanted to protect her mother. At the same time, it showed those deep family issues that don't always end up all sweet and rosy, and that's why this is such a fantastic movie. I still consider it my all-time favorite.

It was horrible. Also completely disgusting that everyone thought she should "not bother him, not bring anything up" etc. etc.

Also, the man she went nuts on for hitting his wife - was that her brother? What a shame that families have such weird ways sometimes - the abuser is treated like the victim, other family members follow in his/her footsteps, and the victims become the pariahs.

Yes that was very sad and like she tells Catch she did the right thing and they all treat her like she was the bad guy.
