Surprinsingly good...

I thought I would never say this about a movie staring J Lo but actually I realy liked it. It gave me a fulfilling feeling...I'm kinda fed up with these romance movie types , you know , he has to marry a blonde and the bruntte comes in and messes all up or he's old and finds the young booby girl and leaves everything for her cause it's true love. Loved Cash's caracter and he really has angel eyes...maybe it really is all good in the end even if everything doesn't feel that "al good" .. Peace

My thoughts exaclty, I have doubts with any movie with J.Lo but this one was well done. Catch and Sharon have great chemistry.

I loved this movie, but I had preferred that J Lo's character had done it another actress, like Hillary Swank for example. I don't like Jennifer as an actress, so I had enjoyed more if she hadn't had the main role.
But that was superposed with the magnificent, powerful, overwhelming, disquieting of Jim Caviezel's look. He no just is a terrific actor, very sensitive but he is soooooo lovely!

Don't be biased against J-Lo just because you don't like her monooulin. As much as I hear she's a diva prima dona in real life, the woman played this role perfectly. She's got some good acting skills, and this movie showed that.

This is a really good movie that flew under the radar. It's a very touching drama that makes you feel good.

reply

i think all of her movies are good.

when i go to sleep tonight i will be dreaming about you

reply

Yikes, I wouldn't go that far. I do think she plays a normal, average, down to eart person pretty well considering, but I wouldn't say all her movies are good.

reply

I really love this movie. When I first bought on DVD it I couldn't remember exactly what the previews said it was about. I thought it was about Catch stalking Sharon or something like that, but when I watched it was like "that was so good!" I'm glad I bought it randomly that day.

reply

I don't remember the trailer/previews exactly but it did hint at a mysterious stranger (possibly something mysical about him). Even thought it wasn't a mystical/magical movie I still liked it a lot.

Sometimes when a movie portrays itself as one thing and delivers another it can be disappointing. But not this. I was intrigued right until the end.

Im not into commercial music, so i like Lopez better on screen than on radio. I think she shows how talented she is when the script, directing and cast is good. Like the Hallstrom/Redford/Freeman movie An unfishished life. This one is one of my favourite re runs, because of the warm not-too-sweet mood.

reply

It was average.

omg ya` i just saw it and was suprised. i thought espc by the title that it was some sappy romance with j.lo--i have nothing against her shes a decent actor but her movies (besides selena) have been meh in my opinion. this was a great emotional movie though ---i really enjoyed it...they shouldve given it a better title though

It was surprisingly BORING. A movie where nothing happened

reply

I loved it. Heck yeah, it was surprisingly good. NOT AT ALL Boring, and in fact nearly everything about Family Life (ALL the ups and especially the downs) happened in this movie.

I could definitely relate to J-Lo's character, Sharon, although not to the extent of a blackeye on one of my parents or family members..... Well it came close to that...more than a couple of times than I'd like to admit.. but thank God I didn't have to go through to the extent of having police knock on your door. Every family goes through problems..Meltdowns and such.. Just like what Sharon said in the movie, "Not everything has to be perfect... it can be whatever it is." Sometimes, well a lot of times rather, everybody's always in a rush these days, everybody loses their patience, loses their cool when things don't go as they expect, they blame each other, they see themselves as the victims, and people go on years, even decades, without ever talking to each other. EVER. Family become strangers, it becomes a cold cynical word uttered bitterly...until it's too late...

A way better movie than I expected.. and that I NEEDED in my life right now, and hopefully many years to come. Great story, acting, direction, pacing, all around.

Just caught ANGEL EYES on the BOUNCE channel, and I also ended up liking it more than I thought I was going to. I liked the fact that it's not your typical predictable boy-meets-girl type of flick---it's about two adults dealing with some very serious issues of loss, separation from family, and other things in their lives, that eventually come together and learn to deal more effectively with them. When it came out, the only reason I even knew it existed was from a review of it in the newspaper. It didn't get any promotion at all, which is why it flew under the radar. I was kind of surprised that it didn't get any attention even with J-Lo in it,since her name was starting to mean big box office at that time.

I happen to like J-Lo--I think she's a very good actress, and she proved to be exactly that in this film---I like the fact that her character's a hard-a** because she's a cop, and that she wasn't made to smooth out her rough edges at all. I also like Jim Caviezel's mysterious character---his being in the role was an interesting piece of casting, because even though he's not a conventional-looking romantic lead, he actually makes it work. I also like him in Person of Interest (which I keep forgetting is on Tuesdays, dammit.) Another thing I liked about the film was that everything wasn't all neatly wrapped up at the end, like real life, but it was still sweet without being sappy in the least, thank goodness.
(I just hated some of the music near the end, though.)

Agreed. It's not the typical romance, which I like and appreciate very much.

You'll find it interesting that J-Lo has decided to go back to her acting roots, in fact she will be starring in and exec producing a new NBC cop drama, "Shades of Blue."

Jim Caviezel is superb in "Person Of Interest". Huge fan of that brilliant show... and it airs Tuesdays at 10 PM Eastern. :-) I set my phone alarm everytime there's a new episode. Speaking of which, there will be a new episode airing come Tuesday, on the 4th of March, titled "RAM" (as in Random Access Memory); The Machine will perhaps extract certain timeline(s) from its RAM, and the entire episode will play out as a flashback episode, teased a few weeks ago by creator Jonathan Nolan, and the ep will focus on the events before Finch hired Reese, as well as Reese's CIA days with Kara Stanton, etc.

Hope you can catch up with POI! Seriously stoked for this show.

I'm very much looking forward to Shades of Blue and will check out POI.I rate both Lopez and Caviezel highly as actors and think some of their best work may be ahead of them. Especially with a focus on interesting projects and Lopez acting more often again after a hiatus and some lightweight roles of late. Although she was good in Parker. Angel Eyes is a minor gem of a film, though. It offers riches that run deep, even if it can be a bit predictable -- although, by the same token, there are some surprises within a narrative that doesn't take the easy route. Catch and Sharon are interesting, well-written characters whom Caviezel and Lopez portray with real affection and understanding for the material. They're not characters who are alike, but the have real and genuine problems that aren't smoothly ironed out because that's what would work in th movie. They are damaged goods, who are guarded and hurting, with positive traits and a visage that each other wants to see through. The dialogue between them is never coy, but slips between aloof and gently probing, revealing glimmers of these characters with each exchange. Lopez also plays the cop superbly, proving tough and believable, but contrasts this with a softness and an occasional playfulness that's wanting of affection. Caviezel has to play his cards closer to his chest, but exudes a fascinating aura that's ethereal, but sad and leaves one often uncertain as to who he really is. We're on the same journey as Sharon in getting to know him, but it's a journey worth taking. The final scenes are revealing and nakedly emotional with Lopez wholly captivating as she allows Sharon to open up completely. This is excellent acting, much of which was done on the first take. Angel Eyes remains very underrated, in my opinion.

Very good movie. I just saw it on one of the Greek channels I get with Dish Network. When this movie first came out I assumed it would be a formulaic/generic film. But it's actually very well written, directed and acted. I love how it draws you in. You want to know more about the characters. Especially Catch. What is his story? You'll have to see it to find out.
