Did anyone absoloutely wet themselves at the end?

I'm curious if anyone else laughed their asses off at the end (seriously)

spoilers below.

There's a scene at the end of the movie where the main guy is crying - and basically confessing why he became a hermit and why he's so detached - since he lost his family in a car crash.

He's describing the moment and it's really quite sad and teary, then he's describing how he pulled a face at his son which caused the accident.
They show this face that he pulls and it's just ... my god it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen - it TOTALLY destroyed the sad scene, my girlfriend and I burst out laughing and re-watched that scene several times over just for a laugh.

That really should've been cut or something because it just didn't keep with the mood of the scene, I kid you not when I say it's my defining memory of the movie and I re-watched the scene about 2 or 3 times just absoloutely laughing each time he pulls the face.

reply

The face didn't have a strong impact on me, and I usually laugh at inopportune times. Guess it's all in how it strikes you.

The Canadian Code of Conduct requires me to be polite or face deportation to France.

reply

You laughed at the propellor guy in titanic didn't you?

reply

lmfao i know i did!!!!

reply

I think I have a worse one, I laughed many times during the movie "Alive". My family wouldn't sit with me. Seen the movie "Ferngully, The Last Rainforst"? All I could think at times was "delicious and nutricious, tastes just like chicken!"

reply

It was a poor choice to include it, it was so ridiculous - I laughed so much at that point.

reply

it was perfect. you must be 10 years old.

reply

Oh my god you're following me into other discussions now? That's so childish and sad, ahahah.

reply

actually i do this with everyone. i see what they have recently posted and if i like the board they are in I make a post. this is how i learn about movies or people i would normally never come across. you should try it. not as "childish and sad" as you make it out to be now is it?

reply

Ignore list, I don't have time for trolls.

reply

haha, I'm not a troll but obviously you do have time since you have replied. Bt it's cool I just think this ending was great, not funny in the slightest. Just one man's opinion. Peace out.

reply

god what's the matter with you? this was a sad moment. nothing funny about it. maybe this type of film isn't for you.

reply

I realise it was a sad moment the problem is it didn't fit in at all and was just a distraction, infact it was so poorly placed in that apparently sad scene the sadness I was feeling was broken, hence the laughter from myself and my girlfriend.

reply

whatever dude. it was well done and fine in the film. i just read this thread and you sound like the troll here. I don't like trolls, they smell bad. goodbye.

reply

LOL do you even know what a troll is?
I mocked a scene in the movie, the scene is stupid, it's quite laughable - the rest of the movie however, overall wasn't that bad but honestly this scene cracked me up so ridiculous.

reply

yes i do. and you are the epit-o-me! sorry bub, but this is my last message. have fun trolling around. peace out.

reply

You keep using that word, but I don't think you know what it means.

reply

haha, troll!

bump for ridiculous piece of editing.

reply

Woah, I know this is a pretty old topic now, but MAN how much of a killing are you getting? I'm watching the film now and haven't got to the end yet but I'm pretty sure I'll have a giggle as well.
And yes, I did also laugh at the propellor guy in Titanic, that was just funny - tension relief or something...

EDIT: And I did laugh when it got to the end too, I'm pretty sure you're meant to - it was obviously funny!

Just seen it - totally agree, it was hilarious, out of place and stupid. The film sucked but waiting for that was worthwhile...

reply

Oh thank god someone agrees - it was absoloutely out of place, it totally took all the emotion out of a potentially sad moment, I'm positive it wasn't deliberate too, just poor poor editing and script.

reply

ur not the only one. i thought it funny and random too, even though what happened is sad.

reply

i agree..i think even though it was a poorly placed....it made me laugh so hard

reply

If you're a child, wouldn't you laugh at that face?

I'm 23, and I loled but it didn't ruin the movie for me, or the scene... Seeing the terror on the boy's face made me actually not remember about the face until I read the post here.

reply

Oh my gawd i have just watched a clip from that scene on utube and its mighty funny! heh
rubbish film though, couldnt even bare watching it to that scene.

here is that clip starts at 5.34

reply

It is a terrible scene, I laughed so hard at them breaking the illusion of a sad moment.

reply

ahhhhhhhhhhhh lol I just watched it again, still funny after all these years - good times.

It's been 10 years since I made this post and it's still the most defining thing in that movie, who in the editing room decided to keep that goofy looking face in a tearjerker scene? Classic move.
