Depressing.
This movie is so terribly depressing! Anyone agree?
shareI agree that it's not your typical "happy-go-lucky" film. Terribly depressing, a bit much.
There are many factors and scenes that tug on our emotions. The relationship between the mom and son. The story of how Eugene got his scars. Even Elane's mother's living situation. And of course, the ending.
The movie has so much meaning, and I think that all of these "depressing" things bring more to that meaning. I feel like without these things, it would merely be a "family movie." These are just my opinions. I get so much more out of the movie because of the story line with each character and their hardships.
All in all, the movie is showing that all these people from different backgrounds followed the rules and paid it forward. The ending may have been made simply to shock people, but the moral of the story still shows through.
