So I just watched this film...

And all the while I was watching it I thought it was a complete and utter treat. Kevin Spacey was on form as usual (Hunt and the dead people kid were great too) and it was such an uplifting story that really left me smiling. Until the *beep* end that is...they seriously killed the kid...seriously?! It was an almost perfect ending...why did this have to become so depressing? I get that it would mean that the story got huge coverage and pay it forward would grow...but still! Poor Eugene and Mom.

Same sh!t, different decade

On the DVD, the director says she felt the film had to end this way, that just as there are random acts of kindness, there are random acts of violence. Or something to that effect. In any case the ending is truly arguable.
