Easily one of the worst wannabe Oscar claptraps of the 2000s

This movie sank like a stone back in 2000 and deserved it on every level. The terrible ending aside, the movie's focus is all over the place like the typical movies of the era. It's trying to be too many things at once, socialist agenda, family drama, romantic drama. The Jay Mohr part of the storyline was useless, and then meanders in all directions before closing in on the single cheapest ending in the history of cinema. One of the most shameful story devices of all time.

Who's idea was it to cast Jon Bon Jovi? That appearance made me roar laughing at every scene he was in. The only way it could have been cheesier is if he sang a power ballad at his son's funeral.
