Sounds like American Beauty.

The score does. Anyone know why Thomas Newman just used themes from that and expanded on them? It may not be identical but certain feels way too much like American Beauty.

Yes, I thought the exact same thing. It sounded like the one in American Beauty.

Well, I'm another person who also thought this. You're right, they're not exactly the same, but VERY close. In fact, I purposely listened to both back-to-back (just those parts of the movies) to be able to hear the difference.

It did sound like the American beauty music..not just Thomas Newman but another connection, Kevin Spacey,too! Different director (Mimi Leder instead of Sam Mendes.).

Yeah i think we can all agree that both soundtracks sound very similar, American Beauty has a better soundtrack though.

I think that was his mood at the time. I can always tell when it's a Newman score, anyway, his music definitely has a distinct sound.
