That ending was ridiculous. The film would have been so much better without it. It wasn't a great film by any stretch of the imagination, but that ending ruined any and all credibility it had. The film was sitting on a very satisfying note until the twist which felt thrown on for the hell of it. Poor.
shareI agree. The filmmakers should have left us with the feeling that helping others is a good thing. Most of these forward payments turned out bad. I would like to believe (maybe wrongly) that we would be better persons if we tried to help someone. This ending sent the message that " help doesn't pay". Awful ending, awful message. Why can't Hollywoodt settle for a happy ending????
shareMaybe I'm wrong, but I think the message was meant to be that doing a good deed sometimes involves readiness to sacrifice. You know, like Schindler, or Ghandi.
