I haven't seen Beyond Re-Animator yet, but i know he's not in the movie. I heard they mention Dan Cain early on in the movie. But does ANYBODY Know why Bruce Abbott didn't reprise his role as Dan Cain?????

In Beyond Re-Animator West say "My last partner turned state's evidence
against me." so West's last partner was Dan (Bruce Abbott).

During director's Commentary, Brian Yuzna states that they couldn't come up with a good story line involving Dan Cain. He felt audiences wouldn't believe that Cain would still be messing around with Dr. West after all these years. Also felt that audiences wouldn't want to watch 2 old doctors; hence, that's why the new docotr to the prison is introduced....
