The way Beyond Re-Animator ended it left a big opening for a 4th in the series! Anybody hear about a 4th being made? Maybe they put Bruce Abbott's character Dan Cain back into it, maybe West goes to search him out for turning in states evidence on him? I'd really like to see a 4th and see Dan Cain back in it joining or against Herbert West!!!!!
shareI said the same thing before that they needed a forth...I mean It took forever to make a part three which I liked alot...But the way they left the ending...West walking off into the night...I would love to see the film take a few years latter and Dan Cain visits the last doctor West had as a helper in mental hospital...maybe they would find west who is up to hos old tricks again and fight him...I think the best way to end it would be one of the doctors sticking West with the needle...So maybe he could feel what it's like to be that way.

The only thing about sticking Herbert with a needle is this:
In a deleted scene from the origninal film, Re-Animator, Herbert is using the serum to keep himself from sleeping. He's addicted to it, as Dan has to help him shoot it up in his veins. So putting the serum in him isn't really an option, save that he die or something.
As for Bruce Abbot coming back to work in another movie, its been stated on here before he already works in California running a printing business of some sorts. Who knows though? He may get persuaded to take up the role that made him famous just one more time. Though if he does, I'd want to see him take Herbert down, seeing how it was Herbert who came into his life, destroyed it once before, then brought the house down on them in the second movie, literally!

I have heard word of a fourth in the works, to be called "Return of Re-Animator". AFAIK, it's in production now.

How about Dr. West, Dr. Phillip, the now headless reporter chick team up to do work and Dan Cain has to come and stop them, but eventually joins at the end.

Damn justin, thats kinda harsh! It ain't that bad of an idea, it could work. I'm sure if Bruce Campbell and Jeffery Combs got together, they could come up with a good storyline/plotline, bringing the best of both worlds together! It couldn't be hard at all to bring Evil Dead and Re-Animator together in a storyline. Its not likely to happen, but it could work if it did...

According to Bloody Disgusting, Jeffrey Combs would love to reprise his role as Dr. Herbert West in another "Re-Animator" movie. A scooper called Pollution met him at Starbase indy and wrote to BD:
I spoke to Jeffery Combs at Starbase indy today (11/25) about the possability of doing another Reanimator movie. It seems that his agent contacted him last month regarding such, and he said, "I love that character. I would really like to do another movie. I can't wait to get the script." It seems that before Jeffery gets his hands on this script there are certian contractual items that need to be clarified. Jeffery can't wait to get started on this one.
Stuart Gordon said during an interview in October:
One idea I am kicking around is "House of Re-animator". It is a political satire that should certain people be back in office, then I would do it. I hope I do not have to go ahead with it, but if I do, it would be about V.P. Cheney passing from a heart attack and since he basically runs everything, Dr. West is called in to bring him back. Dan Cain's character was clearly killed off in Beyond Reanimator. Dr. West says very clearly that his last partner turned in states evidence against him. It was the scene were Herbet and the new doctor first met. So I believe that if Dan is in part 4, Herbert better get some revenge.
shareDan's character wasn't necessarily killed off. He just turned states evidence on West to save himself jail time. I would much rather see Bruce Abbott back in the fourth movie than the guy from the Beyond.

In my opinion I thought that not every sequel the greatest flick but I am still a fan, if they do make Reanimator vs Evil Dead I am all for it because the plot would work perfectly (better then the comic) for crying out loud H.P. made both the Necronomicon and the Reanimator they could work it out perfectly. I just want West back on screen.
shareI definitely hope that Dan Cain will return if a "Re-Animator 4" is made. It would've been great if Dan had appeared in Beyond Re-Animator, even if it was just a little cameo. Howard Phillips was alright though. And at least Dan was referenced, instead of them acting like he didn't ever exist. That was better than nothing.
I still don't know that it'll ever happen, but i would definitely check out "Re-Animator vs Evil Dead" if it was made. Like i was saying earliar in this topic, Bruce and Jeffery could make it work.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a fourth movie in the theme of "Re-animator VS. Evil Dead". Both Jeffery Combs and Bruce Campbell are B movie actors that haven't been in anything big lately, and it'll probably end up being a movie that premiers on SciFi. I'd still watch it.
