Better than what Sonic is like nowadays

I don't get why Sonic is deteriorating recently. Whoever's giving Sonic personality nowadays must have an ill sense of coolness. Sonic's gone from a cool talk-up character to help the world and be poplular to a person trying lamely to be cool with catch-phrases, lame jokes... and why does he keep calling Robotnik Eggman? Annoying, isn't it?

So how good was this series and others compared to today's video games and that Japanesized anime Sonic X?

Actually, I've wondered about the Eggman stuff too. I believe it was in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle when the switch was made. If I remember my friend's recollection correctly, Eggman is the son of Dr. Robotnik. I think they're the same person, though. Maybe they wanted to appear more PC, including a less ethnic sounding last name of a character? I dunno, I think it's a pretty lame change myself.

The New Sonic is SHOT, they've made it too... dragonbally. All you basicly see is an apparantly 'cool' (which happens not to be cool) side-back view of him, overvoicing a loada crap, then talks to kids, gets interupted, and saves the waste of time, day.

His name was ALWAYS Eggman in Japan. The West just changed it into Robotnik when the first game was released there, and now they've changed it back.

Yes, I do know about the Eggman/Robotnik factor from before, and they are actually same person, just with a different name, that's all.

And yes, there are hardly any good cartoons nowadays. Spongebob would have been good if it hadn't been so crude. It really doesn't live up to the likes of this show, despite being the same.

I agree, I use to enjoy watching "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", it was the most funniest out of the Sonic cartoons, way better than ABC's saturday edition, that was just called Sonic the Hedgehog. Jaleel White made the coolest American sonic voice, I did buy Sonic Heroes last year, first Sonic game I bought since the days of the Genesis, despite all the up to date graphics, the game IMHO lacked, it lacked great VA. Oh well.

I also agree with you that these anime remakes these days suck as hell. I feel bad for kids this new generation. X-men Evolution looks like *beep* when compared to the 90's X-men cartoon. What is up with that Megaman.exe looks terrible.

I know what you're all saying. Both Eggman and Robotnik are correct, since Sonic Team had them both official to the Sonic World. Robotnik sounds cooler and eviler (wich is why it was changed for the North American release), whilst Eggman is for originality and description, but that's just about it.

AoStH may not be the best representation of the Sonic World, but it still outranks all that rubbish made nowadays.

And I don't recall seeing SatAm, SU, or OVA/Movie. Just thought you might like to know.

I just want to say that to me 'The adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog' was the best Sonic series ever.

I can remember seeing it when I was around 8/9 years old.. and I was a big fan of Sonic ( I bought the Sonic magazines " Sonic the Comic" , I had two novels, a gamebook which was a 'choose your way' story, and I'd even played on the videogames.. since me and my brother had a Master System..so we'd played on the first Sonic game.. along with some others that came out on the Master System and we'd got to play on Sonic the Hedgehog 2, on the Megadrive over a neighbour's house, it was awesome! ^^ )

I loved this series so much, I loved the characters, the humour ( remember when Sonic used to disguise himself to fool Stratch and Grounder? XD), the voices and the stories..and I even had the first video which had the pilot episode on it..as well as 2 other ep's given to me as a Christmas present. ^_^

I can also remember seeing the series 'Sonic the Hedgehog' which was a more serious series..I think that was the one with Princess Sally wasn't it?, although I didn't like that series as much..I only got to watch a few episodes of the series so I never got a chance to get into that series much.

I have seen Sonic X..and I do like it..but only a little bit.

If they did a new more serious tv show with Dr. "Robotnik" as the enemy and not in the Japanese style of drawing and comedy it could rock!

It could follow the games more closely, it could show the Death Egg! Metal/Mecha sonic from Sonic2 and more!

It could also go more about Dr. R's past (Dr. Kintobor as I have explanied in another post).

I missed it when it was Nintendo vs Sega, Sonic vs Mario, two different companies with two different attitudes. Sony and Microsoft have NO personality at all.

I haven't seen much of Sonic X, but a potential problem is that now the games have more story, so there is less room for creativity.

Also, "lame jokes and catch-phrases"? As oppsoed to the dry subtle wit of lines like "gotta speed, keed"?

Believe me Sonic X is terrible, I hate whoever did the voices of Chris and Rouge. Sony and Microsoft lack a mascot, I use to love comparing Sonic to Mario before Sony and Microsoft came along. I loved this series aswell, SatAm looked pretty good but I never got to see it much due to it being the least aired. The first two Sonic series were by far the best, it doesn't compare to Sonic X's annoying characters and it's lame storyplot. I wish the first two series came back on the air.
