Doesn't this mean Mickey Mouse is close to entering into the public domain?

He's been close to entering the public domain a couple of times already. I'm sure Disney will find a way to break the law and slow down cultural progress by 2024 (When it should be public domain time for Mickey).

They might recreate Mickey without really changing any of the key characteristics about him. After all, he is supposedly based heavily on the behavior and mannerisms of Walt Disney himself, right down to his good natured chuckle.
