What was the point of Chris Noth as the uncle?
He is in the one scene, the kids don't know him, and you never see him again.
I thought at one point they would contact him or he would come back into the picture and never did.

To me he had a pivotal point in the movie because we see him at the funeral seeming like a nice guy and wanting to help out. Ruby (Leelee) gets freak out and angry because she probably thinks he really doesn't care. The Glass', at first seemed nice to Ruby. As it turns out they weren't but the uncle was actually the caring one. Because at the end of the movie, when the kids got away and visited their parents at the funeral the uncle was there caring for them and then taking them in. That to me at least, was a big part of the movie because it shows they should have gone with him all along.
He is in two scenes.
"and you never see him again" makes it sound like he wasn't interested. He sent them one post card at least that we saw but I do agree that it seems strange that an actor as high profile as he would have such a bit part in a film especially one as bad as this. Hopefully when he signed on he didn't realise how bad it was going to be.
shareHe might have had a bigger role originally and it ended up on the cutting room floor after editing. That happens more often than you might think.
shareThey did contact him. She emailed him asking him to check out the BMW, and he sent a postcard that she found in the trash with his number on, so she called him up and he told her the car was registered to Terry's company. Then he's in the last scene with them at their parents grave and they go home with him.
What if a squirrel wants a sausage?

I don't think so, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

Yeah I didn't understand why the lawyer said "you have no where to go" when um....is the WHOLE FAMILY DEAD?and of course there is the uncle....but of course at the end we see the lawyer was playing both sides with ruby and Mr. Glass so maybe he was just trying to get ruby to forget her complaints.
shareYes, you are mistaken.
I'm happiest...in the saddle.
I'm not convinced.

Chris Noth appears at the beginning at the funeral then right at the end. Other than the postcard he sent that the Glass' put in the bin, he isn't seen again until the last scene.
The person Ruby was emailing and asking to investigate is the estate lawyer. He wasn't playing both sides, he thought he was helping the kids settle. Ruby said so herself round about the time the thugs go to the house.
He was playing both sides. Ruby overheard a conversation with him and Mr Glass, he knew about the money and he was helping the glasses
sharewhen she called the uncle, she got a message saying he was out of the country for a month. and she did not leave him a message. she talked to the lawyer about the car. convinced yet?
p.s., i'm watching it right now lol.
Also, we know that if the kids end up with Chris Noth, he's a good guy and won't try to kill them, because he's been a cop on Law and Order.
